Our draught proofing service offers the following for sash and case windows.
By fully dismantling your original draughty or jammed sash and case windows, removing the baton rods, bottom sash, parting beads and top sash. The old parting beads are then discarded and replaced with new draught proofed timber beads, which, along with both the top, middle and the bottom rail, are fitted with our finned nylon pile system. Once re-assembled our system gives a perimeter seal around both sashes and offers ease of operation as the nylon brush slides so perfectly tight against the timber without the same old sticky friction as the original timber against timber.
At the same time we could install, proper British made waxed cotton sash ropes with integral nylon cores for strength and durability, traditional new brassware, new timber sills, new preserved sashes and replacement glazing can all be arranged if you wish to bring your sash windows back to the authentic condition. The only thing we leave to another professional trade is the decoration.
New traditional Brassware or chrome items you may desire - Top eye, sash lifts, sash bar lifts, Brighton fasteners, pulleys, pole and hook or even the pole and hook wall holder. For ease of cleaning - Simplex fittings such as hinges, rope clutches, baton rod screws, crocodile clips or rope plugs. For security - Locking mid rail sash fasteners, sash security screws, weeks stops or Rolla Stop Locks can be installed.
Sash Ropes are available in various types and thicknesses, as standard we will always fit premium U.K. manufactured soft waxed cotton which has a nylon core for strength and durability. For extremely heavy windows we can offer a strong fine braided nylon cord, although this is not a traditional item.
Our replacement sashes are made purely to order from the same timber as the originals, except our traditionally finger jointed Redwood Pine sashes have the benefit of being preserved and are neatly glazed with traditional putty.
